An Interesting Visitor
It has been an interesting few weeks in Room 6. Lots of people have come to visit us. Today, 26th October, our local community Garda, Andrew, was in the school to talk to our senior students about how to stay safe around Hallowe’en. Room 6 were very lucky that Andrew decided to call down for a visit too.

We sang Andrew some of our Hallowe’en songs. He thought they were really spooky. We have been learning about length and height this month too. We compared Andrew’s height to the height of the shortest and tallest children in our class. We will all need to eat lots of healthy food to grow as tall as Andrew!

Andrew told us all about how he helps to keep us safe in our community. He showed us all the different parts of his special uniform. We spotted some similarities to our uniform. His trousers and tie are similar to ours. He also showed us his walkie-talkie, baton and handcuffs. We even got to hold the handcuffs and try them on. Some of us were a bit afraid of them but others had no problem giving them a go.

A big thank you to Garda Andrew for taking the time to say hello to us and telling us all about his job. We really appreciate all of the work he and his colleagues do to keep us safe in our community.
October’s Star Writers
Well done to all the children who feature on the Star Writers Board this month. There are some great recounts there all about fun trips that our students have gone on. There are also some interesting narratives about exciting adventures.

If you pop upstairs you will also find a great acrostic poem about ex-hurricane Ophelia. Most importantly, there’s a guide there on how to recognise a witch – very important at this time of year!
The students in this school have some impressive writing skills. A big thank you to their teachers too, who are working really hard to help everyone improve. Keep up the good work everyone. You never know who might appear on the board next month!
Do You Know The Wizard?
Wizard Shov-Shov came to visit Room 6 on Friday 20th October. He looked suspiciously like Mr. Shovlin. He gave us some magic paper and asked us to draw a face on the pumpkin. We used different shapes that we had learned about during Maths Week.
When our pumpkins were ready Wizard Shov-Shov invited us to his magic table full of potions and spells. He was able to use his magic to bring our pumpkins to life. It was amazing! They even had flickering candles inside them. We were all very impressed by his magical powers. We hope he comes back to visit us soon.
