PostHeaderIcon Botanical Gardens with A2

Tuesday, 3rd October 2017

The boys and girls in 3rd class, A2 visited the Botanical Gardens today to see the Sculpture in Context exhibition and they recommend all the Gardiner Street School parents bring their families for a lovely day out. It was a beautiful autumn day and we saw more squirrels than we can count. Our favourite sculpture was the termites made from plastic bags and we loved the picnic and bus trip. Thank you very much to our tour guide Michelle from the Botanical Gardens.

Wednesday, 4th October 2017

A sincere thank you to all the parents who helped with the first Science For Fun session of the year. What an amazing turn out. The children thoroughly enjoyed discovering how a material (we used paper) can be made stronger by changing its shape. The children found that the paper bridges made using triangles and arches were the strongest.

We will be having Science For Fun in A1 for the next two Wednesdays (11th & 18th October) at 9:00 so please come and join in the fun (even if you don’t have a child in the class). We will then be having three sessions with the third class children in A2.

Monday, 2nd October 2017

The boys and girls in A1 all thoroughly enjoyed their recent trip to Fighting Words. The team that worked with the children were fantastic. We all wrote a story together but the children each wrote their own ending. Our story was then beautifully illustrated. We worked on our endings when we went back to school and added it to our finished book.
