PostHeaderIcon Sixth Class do Spring Clean!

On Thursday 25th of March, Sixth class are rolling up their sleeves and getting out the recycling bags to carry-out their annual Spring-Clean. We are taking care of Mountjoy Square Park. This week, Ms. Goggins met with us to talk us through the procedure and the equipment we are using. We have discussed how important it is to take care of the environment around us. We have even been reusing sweet wrappers, milk cartons and old decorations from St. Patrick’s Day in our Easter Bonnets rather than throwing them out. We re-used newspapers and  old magazines we are finished with. We have been preparing very carefully for the Spring-Clean in class and are ready to go!

We work in teams and wear plastic aprons to keep our uniforms clean. Each team is allocated different parts of the park to clean. We also wear plastic gloves and pick up certain types of rubbish. For example: we are mainly collecting paper, plastic bottles and bags, sweet wrappers and cans that have been dumped around the park. Some people get to use the ‘Litter Grabbers’ to pick up the paper and other recyclable materials! It’s great fun!
