November in E2
We have been working hard for Science Day this month. We learned all about different types of materials. We experimented to see what materials are waterproof and would make a good raincoat for our friend Ted. Come and visit us to see! We created feely hands with different materials as we realised how important touch is when we feel materials.
We also got creative with different materials in our classroom and created robots!
The dentist gave us a big challenge this month. We had to learn all about how to keep our teeth healthy. This rap helped us to remember, maybe it will help you too!
Use fluoride toothpaste the size of a pea,
Use a good toothbrush, are you listening to me?
Brush for three minutes the length of a song,
Brush morning and night and you can’t go wrong!
The dentist came back after we put our new toothpaste and toothbrush into action. We each got a certificate to say we have might mouths!
September – E2
Senior Infants have been learning all about Autumn this September. We can now tell the age of a tree by counting the rings inside!! We are watching out for squirrels and hedgehogs in the park before they hibernate. We also learned how busy the farmer harvesting the fruit and vegetables. No wonder he puts a scarecrow in the field to protect all the delicious food!! We made clay hedgehogs, painted scarecrows and cut out leaves for our Autumn displays.
Energy Busting Trip!
Third class went to the Ilac library for a Science workshop. Naomi taught us about renewable energy sources and non-renewable energy sources. She also demonstrated how energy is made through experiments. Our favourite was the shooting rocket!! At the end we played on a human game board to test our knowledge. It was such fun!!
